decisions on work and life...UGH!!!
Well today I was shocked as the owner pulled me off the floor and offered me one of the salaried mgr positions...20-22k to start at beginning of year. The downfall is I have to commit to stay here for awhile, but the positive is I will get more training along with corporate certified and go to Hamburger Univ (YES there is such a place) in chicago and get corporate trained and that means in 9-12 months I can walk into any MCD and start as a salaried mgr or even work for a corporate regional office. It's an opportunity I almost can't turn down, but that means more time away from those I love, especially my boys!!!! The flip is that I would get vacation time plus I would strong control over my schedule, which means I could escape for 3-4 days at a time which would allow me to visit those I love. The mental turmoil has started and I'm open to all thoughts and ideas. It's so amazing to feel worth something in a business setting again, as I have really doubted myself and my abilities!!!

Oh wow, Craig! That is such nice news to hear that you were asked about being a manager. I totally understand your dilemma. How long do you have to commit to? Is the salary a whole lot more than you make now? Are you sure you would be able to take 3-4 days off at a time?

they want close to a year maybe more, which I understand as they don't want to waste the cost of the additional training and classes just to have me move on right away. If I continue to get 10+ hrs overtime every 2 weeks I would make about 16k a year roughly, in addition Salaried mgrs get free single health ins. the current salaried mgrs do it on occasion to go home or on trips...so I would hope that would still be possible!!!

The insurance is a very good thing. The only thing I wonder about is if you would be able to transfer down here and get the same type of offer. If you are not management can you still get transferred?

Take it. I'm not even taking the time to talk to anyone else about it. Take it. We'll work everything else out. And, yes, I know this means some personal difficulties for me regarding legal issues but it's an oportunity you can't pass up. This step will give you a more secure future than we hoped. You're going to have to make some commitments to the kids, though. We'll work with you on it...you can have them at spring break and over the summer but you're going to have to take some inititive and meet us at least half way financially.

Congrats.
